    Until and unless the ENDA act is passed, merely being perceived as being gay - whether the perception is accurate or not - is adequate excuse for dismissal (or failure to hire) in 30 states of the Union.

    Thus even if “there is nothing wrong with being Gay”, there appears to be provable genuine damage caused, loss of employment opportunities, and so on.

    A good analogy is michievous publication of the false allegation that someone was “passing for white” in the 50’s.

    Let’s not forget, being a heterosexual man who gets “outed” for being gay, even in a society where this is accepted, can make it difficult to meet and date women.
