Take your “poor us” crap elsewhere. A case where 1) a man wanted to be castrated, did the job himself, and then sued or 2) a woman wanted a hysterectomy, did the job herself, and then sued would eithr have garnered the same sort of entry and reaction here.

The point is abuse of the legal system, not sex-and-gender related issues.

Why, yes, Dr. Weiss. I am better than she is. He is.

It’s not the self-mutilation (or is self-healing a more PC term?) that interests this site, it’s the follow-up lawsuit. Either way, yes, it’s interesting. I would be curious to know how many doctors think that do-it-yourself sex change surgery is a good thing, or even if “official” sex change surgery is a good thing. One of the elements of a healthy society is indeed fascination/revulsion about the bizarre, without which we lose the standards that keep us going.

Who’s “enjoying the news of the pain and suffering…” or making the plaintiff the butt of any jokes? Not in the author’s post, doctor. And, the “Juicy” word was from the linked story, not the post on Overlawyered.

The blog post simply highlighted a questionable merit suit for a self-inflicted injury for which the taxpayers foot the bill.

It is sadistic to enjoy the news of the pain and suffering of this person, and to use it as the butt of your jokes, even though she is a convicted criminal with mental health issues. It is as inhumane as the nineteenth century’s enjoyment of the pain and humiliation of the insane in hospitals like Bedlam. Those of you who think you are better than Rebekah Katherine, I suggest you reconsider the attitude that makes this news “Juicy.”
