Wherever the fault or faults ultimately are found to lie, however, the overall result does seem an indication that the results of the system governing municipal personnel decisions are somewhat crazy from the taxpayers’ point of view.

Its not like its a union rule interfering, or a crazy arbiter… He managed to convince a federal judge. While I’m quick to agree that similar cases are crazy and that the people involved were rightly fired, I think this is an exception. Instead this is an honest guy getting vindicated. (or at least that is my take from the article, who knows if it is a fair account of what actually happened)
