Yes and no. In the US in technical contexts academics may distinguish the two terms, but in casual usage they do not. I am an academic who grew up in an academic family, yet in the US (I now live in Canada) I describe someone as &quot;going to college&quot; even if the institution is a university, whereas here in Canada one would talk about someone &quot;going to university&quot; unless the institution actually is a &quot;college&quot;.]]></description>
