core problem is state/government regulation of lawyers … which is so extensive that lawyers are essentially agents-of-the government.
Government regulation and dominance of the legal profession should be sharply reduced.

The ABA is a private organization and is free to formulate whatever code of conduct it wishes.
Of course, the ABA is a powerful special-interest-group with which state government politicians have granted tremendous, unjust influence in all manner of laws & regulations imposed upon the general populace.
