Arkansas court: bus company not liable for lack of seatbelts

After all, the judge noted, Arkansas law didn’t require buses to have seatbelts. Plaintiffs, children injured in a school-bus crash when the distracted driver drove off the road down an embankment and hit several trees, say they’ll appeal. (AP, Jul. 7). Compare: Dec. 1 and Feb. 14.

  • If there is not a law for children to be buckled in, then why should the company be held liable for not putting them in?

The school district accepted the busses without seatbelts, so evidently the bid did not require seatbelts.

The bus company only provided what the school district asked for, and if the parents were really concerned, they would have voiced their opinion at the school board meeting before purchasing the busses.

The plaintiffs just want some money… greedy Americans.
